Spain 2017… That’s a wrap!
14 amazing players, who now have European knowledge and experience and an insight at what it takes to be their best.
So many highlights, so many laughs and so much learnt –
Thank-you to everyone involved in the tour: players, supporters, Academia de Futbol,
GM Globalsports and all back home in Australia, you have helped make our tour so memorable.
Till next time…
Final Game of the Tour!
Our final game of the Spain 2017 tour – Avant Paterna CF V Futsal Institute. The game started with high intensity from our opposition which saw the score 4 nil at half time to a strong and skilful Avant Paterna side.
Second half the game flowed better for our boys who were able to hold the score at 4:0. Our boys pulled together and did themselves and their supporters proud. They have so much to take away from the match and the after match jersey swapping was a highlight and fantastic to see – awesome sportsmanship. Congrats FI on a brilliant tour!
Our last football morning in Valencia…
When you get to stand in between former Socceroo & Valencia CF players…
When you train alongside the B Grade players,
When you see the Valencia CF first graders arrive for training,
When you take to the field with your team mates and train, to push yourself to perform at your best….
Spain 2017 has exceeded all expectations!
Day 11 – What a game!
Our squad was so excited and a little nervous to be playing Valencia. It took a while to settle into the match going into half time 2:0 down.
Second half saw a determined and energised FI side take the field with Thomas scoring a cracker of a free kick from the sideline. This lifted our troops with them picking up their pace and from great set plays a cross came through for Thomas to take another goal. Vasili was on point to take the opportunity to seal the match with a third goal!
Our players are beside themselves with pride, and deservedly so!
Futsal Institute 3:2 Valencia
Our players started their day training with coach Manuel Renz, a former first grade player for Valencia.
Our boys were fortunate enough to have first grade players training on an adjacent field so Manuel kindly spoke to security who let the boys into the car park where we waited for players to leave. Much to everyone’s delight and surprise the players were very gracious stopping to sign items and have photos taken with our boys. An experience they will never forget, this is teaching them about sportsmanship and gratitude…what fantastic role models these young men were for our aspiring players – Spain has really fuelled their dreams.
Day 10 continued…
Unfortunately today the rain prevented the boys from their first game this evening – so Chich arranged an indoor venue where the squad played 3v3 and 4v4 games.
Once we completed our session, our players got to watch Chichi in action coaching some of his boys.
Back at our hotel it was a quick dinner as our guys wanted to camp out for the Man U V Chelsea game. Lights are now out and we hope the rain disappears over night so we can get on with our football tomorrow – so hard to believe our tour is close to the end..
Valencia – Day 10 – Mestalla Stadium Tour
Fantastic morning touring Mestalla Stadium where the boys were in awe of the clubs history, trophies, home change rooms – their highlight was getting to sit in the players bench so close to the field. This is what dreams are made of – this is about dreams coming true!
Thanks Natalia & Chichi for the pics and inspiring our players through experiences like this.
Valencia Day 9
Our early morning training session had the boys pumped for the day ahead. Each player thoroughly enjoyed the drills and were thrilled that Chichi joined in, giving them guidance and tactical advice.
The fog lifted for a stunning day – after lunch we headed to Heron City where the the team hit the gym and did a pool session with Steve. Our players were famished so most went to the steak house for a solid meal.
We ended the day with 10pin bowling – all players fell into bed happily exhausted and ready to do it again tomorrow!
Valencia – Day 8
Our day started with a morning training session by Valencia coach Bravo, each player thoroughly enjoyed the possession games.
Next stop Valencia CF V Sporting, kids enjoyed watching Valencia take the victory!
The day was the finished off with a beach and city tour. Early dinner and early to bed for this crew.
Thank-you Academia de Futbol!
Our week in Cambrils has been beyond our expectations – Futsal Institute thanks you. Until next time…
Our final day in Cambrils was spent at the resort, where our squad participated in training and a pool session before lunch.
The evening matches were in Reus against the welcoming Club Futbol Sala de Reus, these matches were history in the making as first time internationals for their club!
Our Alevin team went head to head for the first 20 minutes locked at 2:2, the game then broke away in favour of the home team and at the final whistle the score was 4-5 to Reus.
Our older squad, Infantil took to the court with excitement, our players showed great footwork, set plays and control as they took the game to a 5-2 victory.
That’s a Futsal wrap! Each training venue, each village that hosted our games and the locals were amazing, the genuine passion for the game and excitement of having the Aussies in their home towns has been a brilliant experience for our players and supporters.
Sport is so much more than what happens on the court and field, it is a way of life!
What A Night! Champions League – Barcelona v Paris SG
An experience of a lifetime ~ a game that is being rated the best in Champions League history ~ the result had Barca fans in tears of elation ~ and Futsal Institute players and supporters were there to experience it all!
After our morning beach session in Cambrils, it was all about preparation for the evening game.
The Alevin team started a little uneasy going into half time 3-0 down. The second half though was a different ball game, with the players confident and set plays giving them quality finishes they need to secure a massive win of 7-3
Next to the court were our Infantil team, this match ended up being a rarity as in Spain a close minimal scoring game doesn’t exist so we believe.
FC Vinyols took the lead and held on ,in the final 5 minutes our team lifted the intensity with Vasili scoring the equaliser in the final
minutes, ending the match 1:1.
Fantastic Futsal, great sportsmanship and above all a fantastic team effort by both of our squads – we are so proud!
The local Spanish press heard about the previous nights game & came down to take photos of the games and do a story about the evening!
Our morning started with training at Salou for the team in preparation for our first match of the tour.
Mid afternoon we headed to the village Alforja where the towns people were abuzz with the arrival of Aussies!
Our first team, Alevin (up to 12’s) played a fantastic game of Futsal, starting strong with a 2-0 lead. Spanish futsal squads have a minimum of 12-14 players with continual rotation and our FI team put in a solid 50 minute performance and were very unlucky not to seal several opportunities at goal with the match finishing 5-8 Alforja’s way.
Next our Infantil (12-14’s) were pumped to take to the court after soaking up the atmosphere of the first match. From the buzzer our team were on a mission with great set plays, communication and completion. They settled into the game perfectly winning 6-2 over a quality Alfoja side.
The locals came with passion and excitement along with amazing sportsmanship cheering along both matches. Our players are on a high and deservedly very proud of themselves and each other.
Today our players and supporters had the opportunity to meet and be coached by 1 of Futsal’s most prestigious coaches, Santi Gea.
In addition to being the current coach for the Catalan Juvenil National Team, Santi brings with him a wealth of over 20 years experience, the majority of which has been gained as one of the leading coaches at FCBarcelona Alusport.
Our afternoon was spent with a gym and pool session before our players mixed with other athletes at the resort for friendly football & table tennis.
A day of action and excitement for all!
Our players kick started the day with training, gym and pool sessions and you could not take the smiles off their faces!
After lunch it was into Barcelona for some shopping before the much anticipated LA Liga game!!
FC Barcelona-V-Celta in what was a thrill to watch, the atmosphere, skill and opportunity to watch their football idols had our players and supporters in awe.
Players & supporters have touched down in Spain!
